The band started off with the name 'Xero', then 'Hybrid Theory', and finally 'Linkin Park'. The final change
was forced by a copyright issue with Hybrid group. The name represents a modified version of 'Lincoln Park' in Santa
Monica, CA where Chester used to drive after practice. As lincolnpark.com was already taken, the band settled on
linkin park.
Linkin Park is comprised of: Mike Shinoda (Vocals, Beats and Samples, Keyboards, Guitar),
Chester Bennington (Vocals), Joe Hahn (Turntables, Samples, Beats, and Sounds), Rob Bourdon (Drums),
Pheonix Farrell (Bass), and Brad Delson (Guitar).
The band's first single was 'Somewhere I Belong' and it was off their first album 'Hybrid Theory'.
Their album Hybrid Theory is the highest selling album of the twenty-first century with more than 20 million copies
sold. As for their latest album, Minutes to Midnight, it sold 2.7 million copies worldwide in its first week. It
debuted at #1 on both the U.S. Modern Rock chart, and the Billboard 200 Album chart.

Linkin Park has their own record company called "Machine Shop Records". "Machine Shop Records" is the main record label

Linkin Park's album Meteora was named after a series of monasteries in Greece.
Humanitarian Efforts by Linkin Park include a 'Live 8' concert, 'Music for Relief' organization that helped people
affected by the Indian Ocean earthquake, and $100,000 donation to the Tsunami Trust Fund.
